Director, Funding the Next Generation (FNG)

Children’s Funding Project is seeking a politically sophisticated Director to lead, manage, and scale all aspects of the organization’s movement building, technical assistance, organizing, policy, and advocacy work in California. The Director will define strategy, set goals, supervise a small California-based staff and consultant team, and ensure the effectiveness of FNG’s functions.  Critically, the Director must provide political and policy leadership in California’s budget equity work for children and youth by building and managing a statewide network and movement; supporting diverse local coalitions of advocates, organizers, elected officials, youth, and parents; and strengthening FNG’s position as an effective force for transforming local investments in children and youth throughout the state.  Note, the focus of FNG is on local revenue, strategies and organizing to impact local public investments. This full-time, exempt position reports to the Chief Administrative Officer of the Children’s Funding Project and a California Advisory Committee. In-state travel and residency is required.    

Education Programs Consultant

Education Programs Consultants (EPCs) with expertise in a wide variety of education areas are needed to analyze, plan, develop, administer, and evaluate educational programs in California's schools. EPCs serve as departmental spokespersons, and as consultants to local, state, federal, public, and/or private school officials in either general or special curricula and instructional program planning. They help develop new education programs designed to improve educational outcomes in public schools. EPCs interpret statistical and anecdotal data in an educational area; develop educational program recommendations and implementation strategies; generate policy alternatives for management decision making; assist external agencies or networks of people engaged in educational program improvement efforts; monitor educational projects and/or improvement efforts and prepare and present documents on sensitive policy issues for a variety of constituent groups or individuals. EPCs typically work within a program unit and may have statewide or regional program responsibility. They may also provide leadership and training to employees at the level of Education Programs Assistant.

Under the direction of an Administrator, consultants have general responsibility for all activities in their geographic, subject-matter, or functional area. They provide coordination and liaison among various private, State, and other public agencies which provide services to children; evaluate curricula for use in child development programs; review recommendations of lower level staff related to applications for funding, site, and facilities inspections and decide what action is to be taken; participate in developing the annual work plan as part of the budget; and perform the more difficult, sensitive, and complex program formulation, analysis, implementation, administrative, and assessment activities. Consultants may also provide leadership and training to incumbents in the Assistant class in this series.

Project Coordinator, CompassPoint

CompassPoint is growing! We are adding a new project coordinator to our team. This project coordinator will help facilitate a welcoming and accessible learning experience for program participants, engage with our community, and help evolve our systems and processes to better meet their needs. They’ll set up our participants for success by helping them navigate the registration process, communicating actively with them to resolve their questions, guiding them to the right resources, and resolving logistical issues they might encounter. Lead Youth Development Professional BGC of Metro LA

The Lead Youth Development Professional works with Site leadership and Youth Development Professionals to ensure high-quality programming and youth development practices are implemented throughout the Site. Boys & Girls Clubs offers daily access to a broad range of programs in five core program areas (Character and Leadership Development; Education and Career Development; Health and Life Skills; The Arts; and Sports, Fitness and Recreation) and several specialized initiatives. The Coordinator provides executive level programmatic, operational, and administrative support to the Equity and Quality team of the California AfterSchool Network including coordinate project and field activities, committees, and communications including social media, as well as office services, operations, and procedures; and maintains team project records and documents. As a member of a CAN team, the Coordinator makes independent decisions about day-to-day operations and completes project management responsibilities in partnership with the Director and other Equity and Quality team members. 

Specialist - Policy and Outreach

Under the supervision of CAN’s Director, Policy & Outreach, the Specialist works with the CAN team and other local, state, and national interest holders to increase the quantity and quality of Out-of-School Time opportunities for youth in California. The Specialist engages statewide and national Out-of-School Time experts, practitioners, funders, researchers, advocates, professional development and technical assistance providers, curriculum providers, school district administrators, and California Department of Education staff, to shape CAN project goals and directions.
